The Danger of Almost

Mar 29, 2026

This powerful message confronts us with one of the most dangerous words in the English language: 'almost.' While 'almost' can bring excitement when we're anticipating something good, it becomes spiritually fatal when applied to our relationship with Christ. Drawing from Acts 26:28, where King Agrippa tells Paul 'you almost persuade me to become a Christian,' we're challenged to examine whether we're truly surrendered to Christ or merely close to Him. The sermon reveals a sobering truth: close to Christ is all the way lost. Many of us hear the Word regularly, know what Scripture teaches, and even agree with biblical principles, yet our lives remain unchanged. We're like the rich young ruler who heard Jesus' call but walked away sorrowful, or like Felix the governor who told Paul to come back at a 'more convenient time.' The message pierces through our comfortable Christianity by asking: How long have we been hearing sermons and singing songs without visible transformation? What sins do we keep returning to? What relationships need reconciling? What obedience have we been postponing? The call is urgent because tomorrow isn't guaranteed, and agreement without surrender leaves us spiritually bankrupt. This isn't about legalism—it's about love. When Christ truly has us, He has our time, treasure, and priorities. We're invited to move from 'almost' to 'altogether' committed, discovering the beautiful truth that full surrender brings us into God's family where we find support, accountability, encouragement, and belonging.
